Episcopal symbols

When appointed to the bishopric of Winchester he declared in the Diocesan Magazine that he would not wear a mitre but would have it carried in front of him on a cushion in procession. This was an attempt to disassociate what he thouhgt to be the symbol of the office from the office holder. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Orthopraxis (talkcontribs) 14:27, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Rose window"

A perusal of these writings brings out Taylor's ecclesiology and his views on liturgy. He maintains that Christ did not intend to found a church and that the new rites of both Rome and the C of E were the work of the Holy Spirit. To say so is not to be polemical , merely fairly to represent what he actually said.Orthopraxis (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 22:20, 24 February 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Can I have an extract or quote or reference to an edition of Rosewindow to demonstrate that? --TonyinJersey (talk) 13:37, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some Googling to determine how the fellow was/is referred to:

These results strongly suggest that "John Taylor" was his common name — obviously we know he's published as "John V. Taylor", but it would seem that is merely for disambiguation. Our own disambiguation guidelines (WP:BISHOP) would prescribe the title John Taylor (bishop), but there are several bishops named John Taylor, so we use his most significant see: John Taylor (bishop of Winchester) DBD 09:25, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
