DOB/DOD
[edit]Hi @FloridaArmy are you sure about his birth and death dates? Looking at Newspapers.com, it appears Sr. is who died in 1925 and Jr. perhaps in 1937.
- Short obit for "John Sunday" in January 1925: https://www-newspapers-com.wikipedialibrary.idm.oclc.org/image/352771346/?article=2ae57b92-40ba-4c87-a9d2-ead4a3fbff16

- User:S0091 Canter Brown Jr. says January 7, 1925, and that he was Roman Catholic but we all make mistakes. I would go with newspapers. Maybe note discrepancy in refs? I meant to follow up on 78th USCI as well. FloridaArmy (talk) 16:15, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- @FloridaArmy It does appear he was creole and Catholic. The 1925 obit states "creole", even if his father that would mean Jr. was at least in part creole and am seeing other articles about John Sunday being part of local creoles, etc. Ok, yeah we can note the discrepancy and I will look into USCI to see if I can find something. Pensapedia
[edit]Pensacola-pedia entry here. FloridaArmy (talk) 16:39, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- User:S0091 this pedia also has him dying January 7, 1925 and buried at St. Michaels Cemetery in Pensacola? Doesn't mean it's correct. FloridaArmy (talk) 16:42, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- The dates seem a bit weird here as well even apart from 1838 written as 1883. Seems like Jr. and Sr. get mixed together? FloridaArmy (talk) 16:44, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- @FloridaArmy Sorry, I had started my reply above then got interrupted/distracted so missed this. The 1883 has to be a typo, transposing 38 to 83 given he was in the legislature in 1874. The most convincing to me is the plaque which has 1838-1925. I mean, one would think folks would have their facts straight before paying for a plaque :) and all other sources do state 1925 so I think we should go with that. The newspaper sources, to me, are not definitive enough to override everything else. Not to mention if he died in 1937, that would mean he was around 99 years old which is unlikely especially during that time. S0091 (talk) 18:14, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
