Euler's number
[edit]Though a reference says that Speidell worked with natural logarithms, this assertion is likely false. See Introduction to the Analysis of the Infinite (1748) where natural logarithm is discussed. §122 is described by Frederick Rickey in a link from the book's article, and the earliest appearance of e (mathematical constant) is given as 1731, long after the 1619 work of Speidell. — Rgdboer (talk) 22:28, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
Some light on the topic is in MacTutor:The number e but Oughtred gets credit, not Speidell there. — Rgdboer (talk) 22:44, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
