John A. Ryan vs. John M. Ryan

There seems to be some confusion about which of these is Dan Sheehan. At baseball-reference, Dan Sheehan is ryanjo03, but this page (John A. Ryan) is ryanjo02. I posted to the Retrosheet mailing list last year about this, but never received an answer.
