John Robertson (Paralympic sailor) → John Curtis-Robertson (Paralympic sailor) – marriage and name change Helles-belles81 (talk) 15:44, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comment. If the article is to be moved, we can drop the "(Paralympic sailor)" since his name will no longer be ambiguous. Station1 (talk) 21:24, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. Per WP:NAMECHANGES, we should give extra weight to sources written after the subject's name change; however, I was unable to find any relevant reliable sources from that time period. Thus, I think it's best to fall back upon the subject's prior WP:COMMONNAME, which is the current article title. ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 14:34, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose as nominated per ModernDayTrilobite, but move to John Robertson (British sailor) and John Robertson (Olympic sailor) to John Robertson (Canadian sailor). Nationality is standard disambiguation and should be used as a first option. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:02, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- There won't be any current articles written in his married name - however I have seen a marriage cert so can confirm the change - any suggestions? Helles-belles81 (talk) 16:06, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- That's the point. It isn't his WP:COMMONNAME! -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:29, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- In terms of suggestions: unfortunately, you pretty much have to wait for a reliable source to report on his married name. Wikipedia's policy is to avoid using primary sources (such as marriage certificates) to cite information about living people; see WP:BLPPRIMARY for more details.
