Middle Name

An earlier edit claimed that Jones' birth name was "John Richard Baldwin". However, there was no citation for the middle name. Therefore I have removed it. Mandolin

Jones obviously plays a mandolin (not triple neck, evidence seen in any "That's The Way" performance), yet it is not listed under his "Gear." Anyone know what he plays?

Jones's name

Can anyone confirm if John Paul Jones is a pseudonym or an actual name change? Album credits refer to his wife as Mo Jones; the article mentions his daughter as Jacinda Jones. If John Paul Jones is his actual name now, his family's names would make more sense. --HighHopes 15:06, 15 May 2005 (UTC)

Shouldn't it be changed then? Shouldn't the first sentence be "JPJ, as known by his previous name John Baldwin?"

I went to middle school with his daughter in Sussex, England. At that time she and her sister Tamara both used the last name Baldwin.

Despite how this is off topic, that is very interesting to hear.

I just finished reading an amazing book, stairway to heaven, and yes it it john baldwin, nickname jonesy. thats so amazing about going to school with him. john paul jones is amazing

"Triple-necked mandolins"

"His diverse contributions to the group extended to the use of other instruments, including unusual double and even triple-necked mandolins."

This is a little mis-leading. He never used a "triple-neck mandolin," just a triple-neck composed of a six and twelve-string guitar, and a mandolin. Don't feel like taking resonsibility for the change though.

Karl Sabino

The article states that Jones worked with a "Karl Sabino" but I can find no record of this. I suspect vandalism. 71.111.59.22 01:53, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Dazed and Confused

Jones did not write this bassline, this song was part of the Yardbirds live act while Jimmy Page was a member, and the song itself was a cover of an existing song. Gmip 13:32, 17 November 2006 (UTC) -This is true. He did not write the bassline. It is a typical line in blues. The only changes made to the song were made by Robert Plant, who changed the lyrics to be about a woman, where they were previously about an acid trip. The only thing about this song that can be attributed to Jones is the phrasing of the bassline: slides and vibrato. I'll just delete this little bit. (Warrenreport 23:18, 6 April 2007 (UTC))

That is incorrect. Holmes has expressly denied that the song was about a bad acid trip. See "Dazed and Confused"

Sidcup, Kent or London?

Nitpicking I know but he was born in Sidcup, Kent. Although this later became part of London it wasn't at the time - shouldn't the article reflect that? --LiamE 20:21, 20 April 2007 (UTC) Having read a bit further the intro say London as does the info box... and then the body text says Kent mentions the reason for the difference. So at least its mentioned. Should the intro and info box change Kent as the Kent / London thang is explained in the text? --LiamE 20:32, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Clogging

So this comes completely from a guy I met at the bar last night (who clogs) but he said that he clogged with John Paul Jones at Merlefest in Wilkes County, NC in 2007 while a band called Uncle Earl played. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm thinking everyone might not know what clogging is...it's a dance sorta like tap. Turnerjl (talk) 16:38, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

This is interesting, I haven't heard it before. There are film clips of Jones dancing on stage with Led Zeppelin a few times so it maybe possible. MegX (talk) 01:51, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
