Longest serving labour MP?
[edit]According to the Tony Benn page, Benn was an MP for over 50 years. Parker was an MP for 48 years. Was Parker actually the longest continually serving labour MP?

- Benn served for around 47 years, with an interruption of well over two years when he inherited his father's peerage. Harfarhs (talk) 19:05, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
As junior minister
[edit]"Parker was briefly a junior minister from 1945 to 1946, serving as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Dominions Office, with James Callaghan as his Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS)."
I could be wrong, but my understanding is that junior ministers don't have PPSs. Is this particular statement sourced? As I understand it, the James Callaghan article doesn't refer to Callaghan having any government job until becoming a junior minister himself in 1947. Harfarhs (talk) 19:01, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
