Inline citations

[edit]

I have added the template {{no footnotes}} to this article because although it has a list of references. Without inline citations whether as footnotes or as (Harvard notes), it is impossible to tell what comes from which source and as such this artilce fails WP:INTEGRITY. -- PBS (talk) 17:40, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a start- more work to do

Thank you for that.
I have altered the long references in the Refernces section to match WP:CS1. I have done this for consistency with the ODNB citaton.
I have edited the short citations in two ways. The first is to combine citations to the same page number (see Citing sources#Repeated citations).
I have also added a year to the short citations. The reason for this is that over time it is quite common for editors to add more information using other editions of the same sources, or from the same author in another publication. The year make it possible to identify more easily which of the long sources supports the short citation and makes it less likely that future edits will cause confusion.
Now that you have removed the general template asking for more citation, I am going to add specific requests for inline citation. Specifically for quotes and some request for citations for paragraphs.
