[edit]This article is clearly written by someone who has a great respect for John McConnell. However, this makes the article read not like an encyclopaedia entry but as a paeon of praise. I have made a single clean-up edit to improve the article. The language should be made more neutral and descriptive, spelling mistakes should be avoided (original article peppered with typos) and the editing guidelines should be followed. — Gareth Hughes 14:48, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
I agree the actual article needs more work.
This article needs special attention to prevent conservatives from trolling it and making people think John McConnell was not the founder of Earth Day, this is disgusting information manipulation and wikipedia shouldn't stand for it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.35.240.184 (talk) 19:20, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, we're going to take seriously and objectively the statements of a guy stating "This article needs special attention to prevent conservatives from trolling it." If you immediately resort to partisan accusations rather than evidence, you've obviously lost. 65.124.30.107 (talk) 18:12, 22 April 2020 (UTC)EP
The article's assertion that McConnell was not associated with Einhorn or Nelson isn't supported by the citations (the last one is a dead link), and is somewhat contradicted by them (according to one citation, the EPA gives credit to Nelson for Earth Day; the other one states that Eichorn emceed the event, which is at odds with the unsupported claim on no assocation. The lead seems both inaccurate and fawning. NPOV, anyone? Ottoump (talk) 05:33, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
Why does this article praise this man this much
[edit]He seems like he was a great person, but this is so biased.
- TTTime05, I have tried to clean up the article a little. Apparently, a "young person" wrote this, maybe as a HS assignment. Sourcing is almost entirely to McConnell's autobiography, yet the article manages to leave out such things as how he magically had the financial wherewithal to start these projects, his education, personal life, etc. I suspect that this article may end up as a WP:MERGE or an WP:AFD at some point.--Quisqualis (talk) 02:51, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
