When did he become the first African-American basketball coach?

[edit]

When we're discussing an historical first, giving us some kind of date is rather key. TimBRoy (talk) 10:43, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Enshrined as a "contributor", not coach

[edit]

Naismith -- the "founder" of basketball -- was enshrined as a contributor. The editor's comment reads more like a subjective reaction to a category label and not a true observation of fact. Given his company on the "contributor" list, I don't see this is as a bad thing. Just for the record, the contributor category for me implies "innovator", a higher praise if you ask me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fosty (talkcontribs) 15:59, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if it's higher praise, but you're right that the current comment as worded expresses a subjective opinion. I have edited it in an effort to remove the subjectivity. -- AyaK (talk) 02:26, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

John McLendon - Did he teach clinics on the "Four Corner Offense" to other coaches?

[edit]

I ask this question because my father, Cloyce Quakenbush, a high school in Wayne County Indiana used the "delay game offense." I am curious how he learned of it. He was based at a Navy base in Olathe, KS in 1943-44 so I am wondering if he saw John McLendon coach or attended a basketball clinic while he was there. If there was a basketball game in the area he would be there. Charlie —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.108.228.206 (talk) 14:59, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
