Dr John Martin Crawford, and his wife Cora, were from Cincinnati Ohio. He was a teacher, and doctor,but was appointed to be Consul General of Russia by President Garfield in 1888. He was still there in 1892, or 1893. The family has furniture and artifacts from the Czar, with a plaque honoring Dr. Crawford for enlisting the US in helping with famine in Russia in 1892. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.215.28.130 (talk) 14:50, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
