How do we not know when this man was born?

[edit]

Like seriously, wtf 2600:1004:B174:22D8:889:5C32:23A3:6085 (talk) 05:13, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The more significant question should be "Can we provide adequate documentation for publishing a date of birth for this man?"
WP:BLPPRIVACY is a key factor in situations like this. It says, in part, "Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public."
Too many biographies of living people contain dates of birth with no citation, thus giving no indication that those dates "have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject". Any unsourced date of birth in a BLP should be immediately removed.
Unfortunately, many dates of birth that have citations are sourced to IMDb and or other websites that are WP:USERGENERATED. Those dates and the accompanying citations should also be removed because they fail the "reliable sources" portion of BLPPRIVACY.
Finally, WP:BLPPRIMARY specifies, ""Do not use trial transcripts and other court records, or other public documents, to support assertions about a living person. Do not use public records that include personal details, such as date of birth, ..." That eliminates use of California Birth Index and other state records that sometimes are cited as sources for dates of birth in BLP articles. Eddie Blick (talk) 01:08, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
