[edit]Google search reveals several notable persons of the same name. According to [1], the Markowitz in question goes by John C. Markowitz M.D.
Also, he doesn't really seem to be a very big name.

[edit]John Markowitz MD is Professor of Psychiatry at Curnell University Medical School and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has done extensive research on interpersonal therapy (IPT).
