Talk:John M. Deutch/Archive 1
ADD Article?
[edit]I give this a "start" rating. It has good information on J.M. Deutch, but has ADD holes. Example:
- "President Clinton pardoned Deutch on his last day in office."
There was no indication he needed a pardon in article prior to this statement!
- He removed the ground intelligence from Iraq in favor of satellite companies of which he sat as a board member, and Hilary caught him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.255.133.196 (talk) 03:02, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- Shortly before becoming dCI, Deutch closed the Department of Biological Sciences at MIT (which he formed) probably because it was performing dual use research applicable to both toxicology (NIH funded) and biological warfare - most notably, yellow rain in Laos. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.255.133.196 (talk) 03:05, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Controversial Issues that Require Solid Referencing
[edit]It is alleged that First Lady Hilary Clinton discovered that Deutch removed ground intelligence from Iraq and had him fired by President William Clinton, with a cover story of a secure computer being taken home.
It is also alleged that Deutch was conducting dual-use biological and chemical warfare research in the Department of Applied Biological Sciences at MIT. Something better than MIT's student Thistle newspaper should be found as a reference, if true.
It would also be interesting to determine whether, as Robert McNamara's protege, Deutch saw the failure of conventional explosives to penetrate Viet Cong tunnels, and therefore turned his research at MIT to "burning droplets" as over-pressure weapons for bunker-busting techologies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nukeh (talk • contribs) 22:58, 18 February 2008 (UTC) Nukeh (talk) 23:09, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=John_M._Deutch&diff=248928873&oldid=248928748 was up for only a few seconds after the above discussion was up for 8 months without comment. Why are you watching this article so closely? Why didn't you comment on this Talk page first? What is your POV? Are you government funded to edit here? 68.103.31.116 (talk) 02:14, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Formed the Department of Applied Biological Sciences
[edit]I deleted this line. Dutch had nothing to do with forming this department. The department had been around a long time before Deutch. It started as "Department of Food Science", early work was done on how to can food without killing people (botulism). It later had lost its focus. The faculty tried to better focus things by changing the name to "Applied Biological Sciences". Ultimately, MIT decided to close the department. This would have been more the president's decision (Paul Gray's) than the provost's. Ydorb (talk) 01:37, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
