Hello! I'm tracing back what seems to be an ancestral myth tied to Jean Gordon and James Lauderdale, and was led to this page. Here's what I find is incorrect: Jean Gordon (c. 1692, Scotland – 11 February 1747, Virginia)), who married James Lauderdale, the son of John Maitland, 5th Earl of Lauderdale. The Jean Gordon (Sutherland) tied to the Dukes of Sutherland, daughter of the John Gordon Sutherland on this page, does not seem to have ever stepped foot on US soil. And neither does the James Lauderdale who emigrated to Virginia seem connected to the Earl mentioned here. This error has caused a lot of confusion within the genealogy. Can anyone provide material that links this Jean Gordon as living in Virginia married to James Lauderdale who was the son of the Earl? Maggielarie (talk) 12:43, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
