Please correct. This is a common error. I do have a copy of a sketch of Col. John Donelson by a contemporary but I do not know how to add it to this page.

Col. John Donelson is my fifth great grandfather through two of his daughters and I have done extensive research. I certainly would add more content to this.
He left a journal of the journey he led on flatboats from the Watauga settlement to Nashville which President Teddy Roosevelt highly praised.
And his is the first signature on the very important Cumberland Conpact which the settlers signed when they formed what is now Nashville. There is a large statue of Col. John Donelson and James Robertson on the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville.
