Life & Connection
[edit]I am concerned about how the Life and Connections comments are viewed. I do not see how it is related to the main subject. This needs to be clarified or changed. Maybe the orginal author Iwanafish can correct and bring this article up to date with more supported facts?

Picture
[edit]I added a picture and will add more later.
I will gather more information for a possible re-write or correction in the future.

Major rewrite
[edit]I was unable to confirm the occupations listed in the first article stub. The assumptions and connections were dropped in this version along with a web page that is no longer valid.

How can this article be given a better rating? What is needed? I like the format. Enfermero (talk) 08:07, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
- I am not sure what the process is. Maybe some other veteran wiki editor can help out here. Thank you, I am never sure of the "proper" format to use.

Vandalisim
[edit]Iwanafish continues to vandalize the article. Why? I do not know since he only makes snide comments and restores non-wikified versions. He has done this on several other pages. He refuses to discuss or comment. John R. Carpenter Jrcrin001 (talk) 06:19, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
VANDALISM?????????????
[edit]The real vandal in this matter is the "Jrcrin" character who obliterated the original page and replaced it with his Mormon genealogy of Carpenter. This genealogy is complete nonsense. The article he obliterated was a straight forward accounting of the historical evidence. The original article can be still found in various non-Wiki scholarly sites such as the official Mercer Company site etc. The new Wiki article is a joke and an insult to scholars and historical scholarship. If anyone doubts the Mormon connection just reference the footnotes and the connection to a Joseph Hatton Carpenter and other Mormon illuminati. --Iwanafish (talk) 12:42, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Layout
[edit]Namely {{TOChidden}} and image on left: both are against the norm, so reverting to them without a rationale is not appreciated. Please try to expand upon your reasons? ninety:one 16:31, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- TOC hidden is used when large gaps appear when the normal TOC is used and when it causes problems for the print link. TOC hidden allows the TOC to be on or off when printing. TOC default is on when printing. TOCs are even a bigger problem when converting to PDF format. TOCs can also be placed elsewhere in the article. It has a current default which many believe must be mandatory, but it is not. You may want to read the TOC and related talk pages.
- Many articles have pictures on the left side of the article. Generally speaking, it is frowned upon at the line of a new section, but allowed at the start of sub-sections or within sections. Pictures on the right, the left, the center and in gallery format are all used in wiki articles.
- In general, wiki tools are there for a reason. If wiki did not want the hidden TOC option, it would not work. Same for the pictures on the left side.
- I hope this explains it to your satisfaction. :-) Jrcrin001 (talk) 04:38, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Format
[edit]Why does this article have such a strange format with the content hidden and the picture right there at the top left? Shouldn't this article look like the rest of Wikipedia?74.109.11.214 (talk) 18:48, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
heraldry
[edit]The "Coat of arms" section appears unrelated to the subject of the article. Also:
- the supporters were originally a round-handled sword
I've never heard of swords as supporters before; they're nearly always animate. —Tamfang (talk) 20:25, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
