[edit]I fear this article may be inaccurate given that the Old Wellington Inn in Central Manchester has a plaque celebrating the birth of John Byrom in the establishment (which was orginally where Marks and Spencers is now - the pub was moved after the IRA Bomb attack).
Also no mention of his home Byrom Hall, Lowton. Which still stands and bears the family name.
- Broughton Cheshire or Lancashire?
"However, some sources claim that he was born at Broughton in Cheshire". Should this be Broughton in Salford? The wikisource 1911 Britannica reference says he was born at Kersal Cell and if you go to http://www.mancuniensis.plus.com/BroughtonFPX.htm it says that John Byrom, the son of a linen draper was born in Kersall (which it describes as a hamlet in the township of Broughton, Salford) in 1691 Richerman 16:17, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Destruction of Byrom's papers
