1963 and 1970 winners at Greenaway Medal Living Archive (2007?)
- The article now gives these two references for the facts that JB won the two Greenaway Medals for the two books. --not for any content, either biographical or substantial citation of his award-winning work --P64 (talk) 01:09, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

- 2012-08-28 I have gathered all reference details in the References section for readability. I have expanded some, re-targeted and re-dated some, without using the old sources or even checking their coverage.
- Some of these so-called sources are very short. It's likely that some can be eliminated because they are redundant, and that some should be eliminated because they are out of date. As a group they do include more information than we have used.

- Today I added External links to some promising newspaper coverage by The Telegraph and The Guardian (from 2009 and 2011).
- "Burningham, John" at Kirkus Reviews evidently hits reviews of 27 books by Burningham —primarily, contemporary reviews of the first U.S. editions. (Those are the first 27 hits. Lesser hits may include reviews of books where he was illustrator only.)
