Solidier?
[edit]Was he a Union or Confederate soldier? this source seems to say Confederate. A dairly recent change was made to the entry to say he fought for the Union. Unfortunately that link doesn't seem to work at the moment? What unit was he in? Rank? FloridaArmy (talk) 21:02, 8 January 2023 (UTC)

- Burgess recounts having traversed the lines in Middle Tennessee to join the Union forces. His family, like many in south central Tennessee were unionists and were subject to Confederate reprisals as the front moved back and forth.
