King's gunfounder

[edit]

This piece states that John Browne was the first holder of the post of King's Gunfounder. However, Parson William Levett of Buxted had earlier been referred to as the King's Gunfounder.See this source[2], among others. Is there a way to sort this out definitively? This source asserts that in 1541 Levett was designated 'goonstone maker' to the King.[3] So apparently there is a discrepancy here.MarmadukePercy (talk) 16:08, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
