John's relation to EJ

[edit]

John is Daphne's son. EJ is Stefano's son. Stefano and Daphne were married. Their children who are not related by blood would be step-siblings. Therefore, EJ and John are step-brothers. IrishLass (talk) 14:29, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tony DiMera

[edit]

Why we don't add him. We don't add relations to the infobox that look like this Tony DiMera (step-nephew, via Stefano/adoptive cousin, via Daphne). We add simple relations to the box, others go within the body of the article. "Step"/"half"/overly related adoptives do not go in the box. KellyAna (talk) 16:44, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This article was unfortunately created in 2006 from material lifted directly from http://www.soapcentral.com/days/whoswho/john.php. I've noted what appears to be the only original material (2007-2009) in the edit summary, but I think the article would be best served by being rewritten from scratch, and with not as much minute detail.— TAnthonyTalk 02:36, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Updates

[edit]

Anybody have any sources to show that Hope and John are now married? Arjoccolenty (talk) 03:40, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Plot definitely needs updating. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.181.192.29 (talk) 20:25, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Marriage speculation

[edit]

Recently, the writers of Days of our Lives have expected viewers to accept an ill-conceived retcon that John and Hope are married. During this time, it has also come to my attention that third party sources are not required for storyline sections of fictional articles, as the show itself acts as a source. So, with that being said I am using the show as a source to assert that they are NOT married, as the July 12, 1999 episode of Days (which can be found on youtube) clearly shows Hope (as Gina) telling John on the submarine (AFTER his marriage to Marlena) that he should make an honest woman of her and marry her. Therefore, it is impossible that John and Hope are married based on this. If you are going to use the show to source that they are married, I'm going to use it show that they are NOT. Now I understand that we are expected to believe they're married, but it makes absolutely no sense, and the writers have not paid attention to detail regarding the story. The only way that John and Hope could be married is if she turned him back into the pawn before he married Marlena, and then lied to him later on about, which of course, is SPECULATION, and has NO place in an encyclopedia. If the community decides to list this illconceived marriage, then I will not object, but I have done the right thing challenging the addition of unsourced controversial material by placing this here. Thoughts? Rm994 (talk) 11:45, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll comment on one aspect of this - you can only use the show as a source for storyline detail in a plot section - elsewhere in the article, then it should be sourced. If there is a source to explain the retcon, then it can be written about in the Development section.Rain the 1 12:36, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your input :)Rm994 (talk) 15:49, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
While I can see what you're saying, it's a common mishap of soaps of re-writing the past. I've seen several soaps redo their pasts and isn't that what they do with they SORAS kids? Is make them older than they really should be? Plus, I've seen soaps make the older siblings the younger ones in return. I think it's still too early in this ill conceived storyline to decide if they are truly married or not. I do not believe that they are married, nor do I personally believe this storyline is believable. I vote no on listing their marriage until more information is given per the storyline from SOD or SID. MusicFreak7676 TALK! 17:58, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I vote no as well. Thank you. Rm994 (talk) 19:49, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, considering the fact that all of Marlena's marriages were invalid due to her still being married to Alex North, Hope and John are really, legally, married, despite the fact that there wedding ceremony took place after John and Marlena's ceremony.--69.124.209.60 (talk) 23:55, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Newly retconned parentage (2014 edition)

[edit]

It's my understanding that the show itself may serve as source material, so why have the edits acknowledging the revelation that John is not Colleen and Santo's son been reverted? Hope stated it very plainly in the January 6, 2014 episode. He is neither a Brady nor a DiMera by blood. His only known relatives are the Alamains, via adoption. — Spanish lullaby (talk) 00:00, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The show itself can serve as source material. This has been discussed recently on the Y&R page (and confirmed by a site admin): shows ARE valid sources. You can re-do the edits regarding John's parentage. Cebr1979 (talk) 21:12, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Drake Hogestyn has died

[edit]

Please dodn't exclude the John Black actor's death from the article. Feel free to alter in a way which doesn't include exclusion of Hogestyn's death.[1]Speakfor23 (talk) 17:50, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

His death ≠ he is done appearing in the role of John. Days of Our Lives films nine-months in advance of what's appearing on Peacock, and adding in information contrary to that is highly-disruptive, and unfounded in any source. As of Friday, September 27, Hogestyn is still appearing in the role, and until a final air date is announced, he will continue to appear, and that is what {{Infobox soap character}} is meant to represent. livelikemusic (TALK!) 20:38, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
