Did You Know A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on March 5, 2009.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that when NCAA Division I basketball head coach John Beilein's son was a high school recruit, Beilein was restricted by NCAA rules from talking to him at a basketball camp?
Current status: Good article

John Beilein Image

[edit]

Would it be possible for someone to replace the image of coach John Belein at the top of the article about him? I know that basketball coaches are known for being upset sometimes, but I think the picture of him at the top of the article reflects poorly on who he is as a person, especially with the great success that he has had with West Virginia. One image that I suggest is:

University of Michigan basketball scandal

[edit]

There is an IP that has repeatedly piped the University of Michigan basketball scandal to "NCAA rules violations". Yes the scholarships were reduced for violations, but these violations were involvement in IRS, FBI, DOJ, etc. infractions. The reason is much broader than NCAA rules so piping is inappropriate, IMO.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 20:25, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Notoriety"

[edit]

On defense, Beilen has also gained notoriety for his frequent use of the unconventional 1-3-1 zone defense.

Why would use of an unconventional defense bring notoriety? -- Hoary (talk) 15:54, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Name of NCAA rounds

[edit]

I propose that we henceforth refer to rounds in the NCAA Tournament by the number of teams remaining - "Round of 64" and "Round of 32," (followed by Sweet Sixteen, etc.), because the NCAA's official re-naming of the rounds in 2011 apparently isn't retroactive to earlier years and just makes things confusing. When Beilein went to the "Second Round" with Richmond, it was the round of 32, whereas in the "Second Round" in 2012, it was the round of 64. 71.205.174.204 (talk) 20:45, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
