Contested prod / Rationale for article
[edit]A prod tag was added to the article (two minutes after a raw stub was created). I removed it. Johanna van Gogh-Bonger played a very important role in establishing the fame of Van gogh through her editing of his letters and through lending works for early exhibitions. As Van Gogh's works now attract extraordinarily high prices at auction, the history of how the market for his work was established is an important topic. There is already a large amount of material on Vincent, with subsidiary articles such as Posthumous fame of Vincent van Gogh, Vincent van Gogh chronology, and Vincent van Gogh's medical condition, and articles on other figures connected to the artist, such as Paul Gachet. In this context I believe an article devoted to Johanna is entirely justified. Stumps 11:02, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Personal life[edit] It is interesting to ponder the question that if Theo had syphilis, and indeed died of it whether Johanna also had it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.123.14.191 (talk) 08:20, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
The death of Theo is attributed here to syphilis, while the entry for Theo mentions nothing about syphilis. This is a very glaring inconsistency. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.110.210.214 (talk) 21:59, 24 September 2016 (UTC)
