On the question of the having of the sex
[edit]After reading Joey's blog I was pretty sure that he was in a straight relationship with a girl named Maggie. Can anyone confirm?71.103.242.56 20:01, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
The news currently up at A Softer World indicates that Joey and Emily were once involved. So he's straight or bi. Does the tag refer to Joey, or to his work? Who added it?
- Ah, the bisexual writers tag you mean. I think he could comfortably be called queer, but I'm not certain he's actually bisexual. He's always struck me as one of those lesbian-in-a-man's body types. I think the best recourse would be to ask him. I'll do that. --Hurtstotouchfire 17:34, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- So, I emailed Joey, and he confirmed that he does in fact have sex with men. Given that he's currently in a heterosexual relationship, and he's written some stuff, I'd say that qualifies him to be a "bisexual writer" (though he mentioned that he prefers the term "queer"). What's the preferred citation method for biographical information gleaned directly from the individual in question?
- My take on it would be that we can rest assured that there's no potentially libelous information in the current stubby article, and if ever there's an interview or something we can reference, then that's great. --Hurtstotouchfire 23:13, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's technically personal research, which is a big no-no on Wikipedia. But having read Joey's book and blogs and whatnot, I would be very surprised if a "bisexual" classification would be attacked by anyone; and as you mentioned, I highly doubt it would be "libelous".--Heyitspeter 03:01, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Found an article which discusses his sexuality: http://www.xtra.ca/public/viewstory.aspx?STORY_ID=1464&PUB_TEMPLATE_ID=2

Lot49a (talk) 21:21, 20 April 2008 (UTC)Whatever you do, don't call Joey Comeau bisexual. The Halifax-based comic writer and novelist despises the word; he feels it's ridiculous. "It's not descriptive or useful," he says. "It always gives me images of people with bad goatees who wear capes and stuff. I'm just queer."

Merger proposal
[edit]Although yes, there are references listed, this article can be merged with author page or a link to the publisher. There is no need for a separate page for an author of little notability. --—Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.248.23.103 (talk • contribs) , in this revision
- Currently at #21 on Amazonunder... comics. :-/
- Anyway, you say that it can be merged with the author's page, but what do you mean by "can"? What do you mean by "no need"? Why use the phrase "little notability" when you know people will strongly disagree with you on that? You're not arguing from Wikipedia policy on Notability at all. --68.161.159.108 (talk) 02:01, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with 108; both Comeau and Overqualified meet the general notability guideline, and as such are expandable to decent-length articles, leaving no compelling rationale for a merge. Skomorokh 02:06, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
