Copley blog (or not), and sources good and bad
[edit]My summary for this edit was touch-up, including the removal of a long quotation that's obscurely written and from a blog. Later, I looked more closely at the source I'd criticized. It's only trivially a blog: an art gallery happens to use Blogspot (and doesn't attempt to hide this). However, it is written so sloppily (e.g. Despite popular culture, Meyerowitz continued to exercise his artistic abilities in color photography) as to cast doubt on its content: if somebody managed to write that carelessly, how much care can they have given to the facts?
A number of major claims for Meyerowitz's notability were sourced to ... Meyerowitz. This is unacceptable; I replaced the footnotes with "citation needed" flags.
None of this should be necessary. Meyerowitz is very well known and the claims made in the article, if true (and I'm almost certain they are), should be easily sourced to authoritative books or web pages. -- Hoary (talk) 23:46, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
