Ruggedly Handsome

[edit]

The reference to his post-augmentation appearance as "ruggedly handsome" is simply a reiteration of an earlier unsubstantiated reference. I think that Shishido's repeated claim that he became successful as a result of the augmentation was an effort to "save face" (unintended pun) after the augmentation went awry. Note that his now "ruggedly handsome" face owes a significant part of it's ruggedness to the scars produced when he finally had proper plastic surgery to mitigate the devastation caused by the injected implants.

It is something of a shame that discussion of his plastic surgery almost always overshadows discussion of his talent. Gate_of_Flesh is a masterpeice that relies on his performance to power it along. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.215.115.31 (talk) 17:22, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you can find references for what you're saying it would be great. Wistchars (talk) 23:53, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Images under copyright?

[edit]

The infobox image of Shishido from Commons (File:Joe_Shishido_1961.jpg) is possibly unfree in United States due to 1961 publication and URAA. Source information on Commons doesn't seem specific enough to find an applicable exception. Similarly, other Commons portraits seem to have similar possible issues. Does anyone have any comments about whether WP:FAIRUSE should be applied, or if there is evidence that the image is not actually copyright protected? Otherwise, shall we remove the infobox image? I inserted File:Shishido-Jo-1.jpg instead, since it is less likely to be encumbered by copyright. (Apparently 1955 publication in Japan, so barring possible republication in U.S. within 30 days of that date + formalities, likely public domain in both U.S. and Japan.)
