Assassination usage
[edit]Y'know, I just don't get why Mob murders are being dignified as "assassinations". They're just murders, killings, hits... Trekphiler 07:15, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Birthplace
[edit]was he really born in Castellamare del Golfo? that would seem very strange and ironic given he would end up fighting a war against them later...
He was born in Marsala. The author got it mixed up with Maranzano's birthplace. Rickm7x (talk) 11:12, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Some editors added that he was born in Menfi. If his birthplace is going to be changed it needs a reference, some sort of source to back this up. The editors who made this change did not include any references so it needs to remain this way until references are provided.RickW7x2 (talk) 22:18, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
Someone also recently changed his birth year to 1879 from 1886. His birth record and census records all agree he was born in 1886. Whoever is making these changes needs to stop.RickW7x2 (talk) 09:12, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Spade/Diamond
[edit]The wiki page says that he held the ace of spades in his hand. However, I am wondering if this is a falsity. Several sources, including Murder Inc. by Turkus, claim Masseria died with the ace of diamonds in his hand. Despite the photo circulating of Masseria with the spade, it is likely this has been altered for effect (we all know the eerieness of an ace of spades.) To back up my claims, I found an article from the New York Times ("Racket Chief Slain By Gangster Gunfire) dated April 16, 1931. To quote the piece: "He lay on his back. In his left hand was clutched a brand new ace of diamonds." I've done some research and it seems both accounts (spade/diamond in left/right hand) were reported on that day. I understand it is a minor detail, but I would like to know if only to satisfy my curiosity. June 19 2010, revised June 21 2010
Rare photos
[edit]Upon surfing random articles to create involving crime, I came upon this article. I looked for images of Joe Masseria, seeing as this current Wikipedia image for Joe Masseria has been in use for a large period of time now. I have found two rare photos of Joe Masseria. The first photo has Joe Masseria topless in shorts with his young girlfriend or wife. The second photo is seen with Joe Masseria wearing a well-tailored suit. I have found these two photos on website. If they are copyright, I'm not sure as to how that website or the photos on that website aren't already down. Would it be okay to upload them onto Wikipedia?
