Date of birth and middle name

[edit]

imdb.com gives his birth date as November 14th and his middle name as Perry. Who's right? Kostaki mou (talk) 16:44, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Kostaki mou: -- The references I cited for Patrick are newspaper engagement and wedding announcements from the late 1960s. I found no such references for the middle name Perry. I conclude that Patrick is correct.

imdb.com has since changed Perry to Patrick. They haven't corrected his birth date. Kostaki mou (talk)

Date of birth?

[edit]

Someone changed it but are we certain of the date?

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6005471/bio Born November 14, 1946 in Herminie, Pennsylvania, USA

Although a couple of other sites do say August. e.g. https://www.crimeandinvestigation.africa/shows/homicide-hunter/articles/lieutenant-joe-kenda (Where did they get that info? From Wikipedia?) AND several others at https://www.google.ca/search?q=joe+kenda+was+born+in+Herminie,+Pennsylvania&rlz=1C1RUCY_enCA781CA781&ei=IPn0WrezFqvWjwSmm7vYBA&start=20&sa=N&biw=1229&bih=588

Frankly, none of them are really credible news sites, so I have no idea what to say. Peter K Burian (talk) 01:58, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How many cases did he actually solve?

[edit]

In the programme he himself claims to have solved 387, and the Internet is full of similar claims - but here we read "He investigated 387 homicide cases, solving 356, a closure rate of 92%". Of course that'a a lot of solved cases, but we surely need to get the figures right.89.212.50.177 (talk) 16:43, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your comment is absolutely right. We do need to "get the figures right." Kenda quote in first section

[edit]

Is Kendra’s quote “I loved the work…my wife, not so much” paraphrased? Because grammatically it reads that he loved his work but not his wife… Alanrobts (talk) 15:30, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is irrelevant because the quote is not necessary to provide the proper facts about the subject of the article. For more information, see the comment I am about to post here. MarydaleEd (talk) 20:38, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Proper encyclopedia style

[edit]

I am doing some serious editing of this article, which is bloated with unnecessary information. If there are those who do not understand my edits, allow me to explain. Proper encyclopedia style is different from all other styles. That means that writing for Wikipedia is not like writing for other forms of media. Encyclopedia writing is not the same as writing for magazines, websites, books, press releases or biographies. In encyclopedia writing, we provide just facts using the fewest words possible. Using the fewest words possible makes the words that we do use more important and have more impact. It also enhances the reader's ability to understand the content. According to Wikipedia MOS, (WP:NOTEVERYTHING), each article is a summary of the subject, not a detailed account. Also according to the MOS, we do not add facts simply because we have them. We provide a summary of the subject using valid, respected secondary sources which allow the reader to research the subject further if interested. We are here to inform, not to entertain. My edits in this bloated article will significantly shorten this article, keeping the facts to only basic information to summarize this subject according to proper encyclopedia and Wikipedia style.
