I find this one strange. The evidence for "Joanny" is flimsy, and that is not a normal French first name. I would have expected Jean-Philippe. I find also strange that the NASA ADS has one Joanny citation (his thesis), then 10 years later we have J. P. and later J. Ph. until 1931, at which point J. L. (Jean-Louis) appears (he later becomes just Louis). It's as if J. Ph. changed his name (or signature) to J.L. Maybe he was named Jean-Philippe-Louis?

I just had to voice my doubts.
