"Newsom has been in a relationship with actor and SNL comedian Andy Samberg."

time travel
[edit]At the age of five, Newsom asked her parents if she could play the harp. Her parents eventually agreed to sign her up for harp lessons, but the local harp instructor did not want to take on such a young student and suggested she learn to play the piano first. Starting at the age of four she began playing the piano

Linkfarm
[edit]Virtually every celebrity does interviews; there's nothing intrinsically notable about that face, and so there's no reason to have a separate "interviews" section separate from External links. This section is a linkfarm violating WP:ELNO. If specific points in those interviews can't go into footnotes, the section is violative. --Tenebrae (talk) 04:24, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- Agreed. I've removed the links and placed them below, should they be used in future article development. (although most are dead links or pay-walled). --Animalparty-- (talk) 05:56, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

After high school, she studied composition and creative writing at Mills College....She dropped out of school in order to focus on her music.[5]
[edit]This sounds contradictory, but perhaps it just needs to be rephrased or fleshed out. How is it that she dropped out of high school yet still attended college? She dropped out for a while, perhaps? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.12.35.141 (talk) 14:52, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians, It has come to my attention that Joanna Newsom full name since marriage is Joanna Newsom Samberg, she took the last name of her husband. And Bongwarrior has been removing this input. It is indeed true and you can fact check it hat this youtube website. Samberg talks about his wife taking his last name and I would appreciate it if someone could add it in. Joanna Newsom Samberg is her official name, according to their marriage license.
"Hot Shots Tennis" and "The Sky Crawlers" voice acting
[edit]I don't think there's any evidence that these credits are her and not someone with the same name. She's never mentioned doing voice acting work in any interviews, and anecdotally, the characters credited to a Joanna Newsom don't sound like her. It also doesn't really make any sense for her to be taking on these small VA roles while also actively touring and recording after releasing two very acclaimed and successful albums.
I think if no one has any information that links these roles to her specifically and not just someone with that name, they should be removed. Keatsta (talk) 05:45, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- I can't link to Youtube in the comments, it seems, but if you look up clips of Hot Shots Tennis, you can hear the voice for the "Anna" umpire character and it's clearly not Joanna Newsom (or at least, this Joanna Newsom).
- Here's the game's manual: https://ia600700.us.archive.org/15/items/SonyPlaystation2Manuals_201812/Hot%20Shots%20Tennis%20%28USA%29.pdf
- On page 14, where it lists the English voice actors, "Joanna Newsom" is not present. I'm working on finding the in-game credits to see if it appears there. "Joanna Newsom" does appear in the voice acting credits of The Sky Crawlers, though. I still don't think it's her, but I haven't watched it yet. AsteriosNeoptolemos (talk) 06:49, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- There's a very low-quality video of the Hot Shots Tennis credits on Youtube and although it's hard to make out, it's clear when comparing it to the names in the manual that it's the same names in the same order, and "Joanna Newsom" is not one of them.
