Can you help please. I don't know what to edit/amend to make the biography information be approved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joblankenburg (talk • contribs) 11:19, 15 June 2011
Hi. I am one editor who has noticed this article and placed it on my watchlist. I can help you navigate the necessary Wikipedia policies and guidelines. First, I recommend that you read WP:COI for the policy on Conflict of Interest. You should stop there and decide whether it is prudent for you to continue editing in this area of Wikipedia. Now, we value you as an editor and we hope that you will make contributions, but you can edit any article you want if it catches your fancy, it is strongly discouraged to touch your own biography page. This is because it is hard to be neutral when writing about yourself. Wikipedia is built on the policy of WP:NPOV, a Neutral Point-of-View. This is a core policy and it's important that we maintain an impartial stance when writing about facts for articles. Now, I know you have not run afoul of this policy. Your edits have been a clear attempt to improve the article, but I will tell you what to watch out for. WP:MOS is the Manual of Style. This might be hard for a newcomer to grasp, but just like newspapers and television news and paper encyclopedias, we have a manual that tells us how to write about things, what format to use, and other guidelines to writing well here. Those who adhere to the Manual of Style can write a clean, readable article here. One thing to watch out for is external links. The MOS says that links that are not Wikilinks (internal links to other Wikipedia articles) must be kept out of the body of the article. While it is easy to link them using brackets, we try not to surprise readers getting sent to external sites when we wanted to keep them reading Wikipedia. I have preserved all of your external links in the section heading, "External links". I will allow others to determine whether or not they comply with Wikipedia's policy on retaining external links, WP:EL.
For more information, please refer to your own talk page. User talk:Joblankenburg. I have placed a couple of relevant warnings there. I do hope that you will stay around, possibly under a different username, and contribute happily to Wikipedia in the years to come. Thanks. Elizium23 (talk) 18:33, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
