[edit]

We need citations for at least 3 statements that are unsourced & contradict at least one source. Unfortunately, the news media are reporting contradictory info, so it may take a bit more time until the facts are clear. In the meantime, though, it would help to know the source for each statement.

Amar's birthplace, posted here as Oujda, Morocco, and the place of his death, stated as Brooklyn, NY, contradict The N.Y. Times article, Jo Amar, Genre-Blending Jewish Singer, Dies at 79, where Bruce Weber gives those locations as Settat, Morocco, and Woodmere, N.Y., respectively. This WP article also gave Amar's birthplace as Settat, in a previous edit.

Unfortunately, Weber's credibility suffers from saying that Amar died on June 29, which seems unlikely given jpost.com's 6/28 statement that he was buried on the 28th. However, with all the other sources of that date, Weber could have overlooked checking it, given the similarity between the two dates.

This WP article also says that Amar did not succeed in his musical efforts in Israel, and implies that that was the reason for his move to New York City. Is there a source for that, or is that an editor's interpretation? Sources such as the cited Haaretz article, which acknowledged his struggles in Israel, but also recognized his successes there, and described the latter as having paved the way for Amar's opportunities in NY & elsewhere, make the current WP statement seem a bit simplistic.
