I am surprised to see a piece here on this play. Schisgal roamed the Greenwich area interviewing various artists for inspiration. Most were struggling and he could get material for the price of a meal. My father was a struggling writer and spent the better part of an entire day with Schisgal feeding him more stories in trade for more food. For the composite of the lead character, he took my fathers name (James Shine) and a couple of character traits. There are a couple of quirks and stories he took directly, but there are obviously other people in there as well as lot of fiction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimshine (talk • contribs) 23:07, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
