"Jimmy Howard could break records and challenge Patrick Roy for the world's best goalie of all-time." Suuure he could... NPOV says he can't. Atleast not for now. AMac2002 21:13, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nickname vandalism

[edit]

There have been several recent edits removing his nickname "Godpad" in the article's lead sentence. While several have been blatant vandalism, there seems to be a pattern of "Tiberius" ones by several different IPs. Please keep an eye out and be sure to revert and use an appropriate Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace message template to notify the editor. — MrDolomite • Talk 14:00, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to request temporary semi-protection.--Everyone Dies In the End (talk) 14:40, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Until a reliable source can be added to the article to confirm this supposed nickname, then it does not belong in the article. Refer to WP:MOSBIO for use of nicknames. Jimmy Howard is known professionally as Jimmy Howard, not as Godpad. – Nurmsook! talk... 20:05, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The citation, showing use of his nickname by ESPN writer Robert Vollman is clear. The vandalism removing this is baseless — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.210.99.56 (talkcontribs)

Please see the comments above. That name does not belong there. And also, you're blatantly edit warring here (why I've pulled myself from this). Calabe1992 (talk) 01:46, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You shouldn't have been in it to begin with. You only joined to assist your buddy nurmsook in vandalizing this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.210.99.56 (talkcontribs)

Please see WP:AGF. Your attitude is not going to let you last much longer. Calabe1992 (talk) 01:51, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does that mean I won't be able to spend every waking day policing a public wiki like yourself? LOL You are one step above a mall cop — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.210.99.56 (talkcontribs)

Now see WP:PA. Calabe1992 (talk) 01:56, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I declined an vandalism block [1] for replacing the Nickname on this page. There appears to be an ongoing content dispute which does not constitute vandalism. While the suggestion to remove WP:PA is appropriate. I am not seeing a solid reason to include or not include a nickname, I see multiple users on each side of the argument and I don't find a solid reason at WP:MOSBIO to include or not include the nickname. A search for references found several mentions of the person with the nickname included. Again the reliability of the sources are not clear, both sides have good arguments. The are entire paragraphs with less reference from reliable sources then the nickname, which are not being questioned, which makes this a content dispute about including the nickname or not. All editors are reminded about WP:EW, reach consensus on the talk page before removing or adding the nickname. Jeepday (talk) 11:16, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The reason for the original block was not only vandalism, but also personal attack. See here for previous commentary on the matter. This is not a content dispute, as you argue, and the quality of the referencing of the remainder of the article has nothing to do with the addition of vandalism. The use of this nickname does not conform to WP:MOSBIO, as he is not professionally known by Godpad, but rather, he is known professionally as Jimmy Howard. Further, to contest your search for references argument, the mention of Godpad originally stems from a single blog entry (which is not an WP:RS), and because it was added to Wikipedia, multiple mirror sites now include that nickname. There are no reliable sources that use this nickname. Lastly, I am not clear as to where you are finding "good arguments" from both sides? There has not been any thorough discussion from the side that wants the nickname in the article, as that side essentially consists of IP addresses (likely an IP hopper), making personal attacks any time the nickname is removed. For the record, removing this nickname does not constitute WP:3RR, as it has been established that this is vandalism per this talk page and the ANI I linked above. The user(s) in question that continue to add this material have been warned only to retaliate with personal attacks, certainly not something inherent to a content dispute. – Nurmsook! talk... 16:44, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I can tell WP:MOSBIO refers to the replacement of the nickname as the subjects primary nomenclature not to the inclusion of the nickname in the article. Jeepday (talk) 12:45, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jeepday's got the right idea. Godpad will live on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.243.96.56 (talk) 21:54, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not here, it won't. Doc talk 21:56, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're breakin' my heart, kid.

Also, Godpad.
