The university is currently a battle ground for ethinic conflicts after the government appointed delibrately the known OLF memeber Kabba who is now in europe to meet OLF officials about how to use the university as in favour of The separatist group.

Dr.Kabba Urgesa the notorous

but hidden OLF member is currently President of The university . His privatehouse located near the College of Agriculture where he was a dean is surprised everybody that visit the inside .The stone is coming from Ambo (500km away from jimma)by JUCA cars and the ceramics, cement and everthing is from the JUCA store under the order of the late notorious Derg oficial of jimma city and later Adminstrator of the college Mr.Lelisa Gulema. The construction materials are indicated on the college store file as used by the college and the store keper and purchaser (Now in prison) is forced to sign.
