Manila envelope
[edit]From a document that lists key dates in AFL history...
February 11, 1981. While watching an indoor soccer game at Madison Square Garden, JAMES FOSTER draws an outline of a miniature football field over a hockey rink on a manila envelope. From the diagram will evolve an exciting adaptation of America's favorite sport.

University football
[edit]To the IP who added a comment that Jim Foster did not play football in University; there is a reliable source from the Spokesman-Review that where Jim Foster is quoted as saying he was once a "slow, white receiver" at the University of Iowa. Do you have any available sources to the contrary? How do you explain the newspaper quote? --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 15:15, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
