Black Americana
[edit]Per the following discussion, I was informed that Black Americana is now redirected to this article, it was previously redirected to african american studies. Sorry if the formatting from the cut and paste is a bit messed up, I'm not sure how to indent them. It's from this now archived discussion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:African_American_studies/Archive_1 It seems to me that black americana should have it's own article, not just one about a specific museum. Even if it does remain redirected here, we should probably expand a bit on just what it is, examples thereof, etc. Lots of people collect these items and are interested in the subject, and they're certainly notable enough to have an independent article about them. − − I don't know when, how or who redirected Black Americana to this article, but that seems completely wrong. For those that don't know, Black Americana is a category of objects and collectibles created through history which are frequently racist or offensive or stereotypical in nature. There should probably at some point be a category, or an article or something that describes it. (I'm not sure why there isn't one now as there are several articles which seem to mention it.) − − Why the heck does Black Americana redirect to this page which seems to have no significant content on black americana? Certainly black americana is worthy of a page of it's own as a significant type of cultural and historical artifact. Is black americana listed under some sort of other term currently? Anybody know? - It presently redirects to Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia, which may still not be desirable. If you (Centerone) think the subject should have its own article, the place to suggest turning Black Americana back into a redlink is WP:RFD, though of course the best course of action is to actually write the article and replace the redirect with that article. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 02:48, 15 October 2021 (UTC)"
- This is a completely ridiculous redirect. The JCMRM is not the end all, be all authority on this subject. Bkatcher (talk) 14:48, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
