Contradiction

[edit]

How can it be said that Republicans haven't tried to compete for Tennessee's US senate seat since the late 1800s when Fred Thompson and Bill Frist were both republican senate seat holders from Tenn? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.113.1.12 (talk) 19:11, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Affordable Care Act

[edit]

This seems to have a political bias. In particular, attributing motives to one of the Congressman's vote by stating that he knew of subsequently released information about the budgetary impact of the Affordable Care Act. 98.204.69.103 (talk) 17:03, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This has gone back and forth several times. It is clearly POV writing that was lifted verbatim from an editorial from the Wall Street Journal Opinion Page. Please stick to facts and sourced news analysis. 173.8.220.209 (talk) 21:02, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 race

[edit]

Regardless of the outcome, I would suggest that Cooper's 2010 election has been at least somewhat seriously contended; The Cook Political Report now has it as "leans Democratic" rather than likely Democratic, something hitherto unseen in this district. 75.201.45.170 (talk) 14:33, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

According to the still unofficial election results (http://www.wilsonelections.com/election_results_summary.html), he lost to David Hall (politician) by almost double: 15,605 to 7,822. I'm waiting for the official election results. Currently, there is no article for David Hall, but when the official results come in, he'll need one. "Bad year for Democrats in Tennessee"? LOL!!!

[edit]

The above quote refers to Cooper's failed campaign for the U.S. Senate in 1994. That was a bad year for Democrats all over the country. Republicans took control of the U.S. House for the first time in 40 years, and they took control of the Senate for the first time in eight years. Several longtime Democrat governors were voted out of office, including Mario Cuomo and Ann Richards. Tom Foley became the first sitting Speaker of the House to lose reelection since 1860. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:FE43:0:332D:D1B5:CF72:E35C:16DE (talk) 23:07, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
