Just a note that this source claims Adriaen van der Donck enthusiastic Description of New Netherland as a possible inspiration for their choice of destination, but this appears not to to possible, because the book was only published in 1655.--Pharos (talk) 18:15, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
