Wasn't this kind of a revision of KJV? The main title was "The Holy Scriptures" (as seen in the image)... AnonMoos (talk) 10:34, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not so much the King James as the Revised Version, a 19th century update of the King James, and the American Standard Version, a US revision of the RV. As far as I know, it hews pretty closely to the RV, except that Christological interpretations have been replaced with Jewish interpretations, and some Jewish exegesis is brought to bear. See the preface to the JPS version for an explanation of how the JPS prepared the translation ("The method employed by the Board", about the middle of the page). — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 22:26, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conservative movement

[edit]

This is published by the Jewish Conservative movement. --Mooveitorhloseit (talk) 23:21, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, it was published by the Jewish Publication Society, which is not affiliated with Conservative Judaism (nor any other religious movement). — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 02:26, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
