I created this page following research into Jesse Handsley who joined Captain Scott on his Discovery expedition to the Antarctic in 1901-1904.
I undertook several years of research on Jesse Handsley, sparked by the fact that we shared a surname, as a result of my research, Skegness, the town of his birth, erected a memorial information board in recognition of his achievements. I was a guest at the unveiling, this is my only association with Skegness Town Council and Skegness Civic Society.
I also discovered another Lincolnshire man was on the expedition, Arthur Blissett from Grantham, my home town, I became a member of Grantham Civic Society(GCS) when I approached them about the possibility of including Arthur in their Blue Plaque Scheme. There is now a blue plaque on his birth place. This is my only association with the GCS.
Whilst undertaking this research I became aware that no Wikipedia page existed for Jesse Handsley or Arthur Blissett and decided to create pages to share the information I have gathered.
