Where Do I Find a Jersey Wooly?
[edit]I removed this section as it's advice on buying that's inheretly biased. The take the second sentence as an example: one could argue that breeders are unreliable as their profit motive may encourage you to purchase an unsuitable pet. Both this argument or the one below are inherently biased, and I'd argue that neither is clearly correct. --Ahc 04:01, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- If you like gambling, try your local animal shelter. while the dogs and cats are usually pretty homogenous in terms of breed variety, rabbits are surprisingly varied so go see if your animal shelter has one for adoption. You can also get one from a breeder. I personally got my Jersey Wooly from a friend who was in 4-H which is like this breeding and showing program. My rabbit in particular wasn't up to show standards so he was put up for adoption ApteryxRainWing (talk) 11:57, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- There are a few options to finding a pet Jersey Wooly. Breeders are the most reliable source. Jersey Wooly breeders can often be found online and can almost definately be found at a rabbit show. Check search engines for breeders or ARBA.net for show dates and locations. A breeder will be able to tell you alot about your pet bunny, and will often have and be able to show you its mother and father. You may also get a pedigree with your rabbit. Many breeders are more than happy to answer every question you have, even long after you have purchased your bunny from them. Note that most breeders will not sell a rabbit under 8 weeks of age. Rabbits may be weaned from their mother as early as 6 weeks but many breeders opt to keep their babies a little longer just to ensure they are healthy and stress-free.
- Rescue groups may also have Jersey Woolies. Very often, these are not purebred, but they may still make excellent pets.
- Some pet stores may have Jersey Wooly rabbits. Sometimes these were purchased from breeders. Be careful when shopping for a pet rabbit at a pet store. Many stores like to sell the rabbits when they are younger than 8 weeks old because they are super cute and small. Pet store workers also generally do not know how to sex rabbits, and may tell you the wrong gender.
