In 2011 all original members of The Time regrouped as "The Original 7ven" and released "Condensate." This project included a brief tour, Benton is still a full-time member of the The Time (The Original 7ven). ^[1]

On June 26, 2016 Benton joined fellow Original Minneapolis Sound artists Sheila E., Morris Hayes & others to salute the legacy of Prince on the 2016 BET Awards.

Benton along with Director Albert Magnoli and others will lead an Oscar panel to celebrate the Warner Brothers film Purple Rain on August 29, 2016.

August 2016 will kick off a series of events with Benton and his company Thandiwe Entertainment Architects co-owned with Famed Television Writer Ilunga Adell.
