Notability

[edit]

This singer has won a major UK TV contest, whose two previous winners have gone on to chart success with their first releases after winning. There is extensive coverage of him in UK and overseas media. He appears to be sufficiently notable for an article. PamD 16:39, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just because he won, it doesn't mean he needs an article straight away. You are using WP:CRYSTAL by implying that Jackman will have success just because the previous two won the show. The first winner was dropped because her debut album only reached number 134 and the second winner released a number 7 album with two poor charting singles. There is no expensive coverage of him, he has only been in the public eye for 1 month. India doesn't mean a thing either; number of countries reporting on it doesn't make it more notable. News is news. He hasn't done anything to write a personal life section, a discography section, what he's currently doing. You can't have a two sentence article in main space. You tried creating some kind of notability by including seven sources which said the same thing, which is why I removed all but one of them because it was overwhelming WP:CITEKILL. You and User:Boleyn have both removed my redirect back to the third series of The Voice, by either no explaining why or just saying "it's notable." You are both OWNING the article and not allow others to make edits. I added some notability tags and you removed them immediately. I have reported you for owning this article, not allowing me to make edits or to redirect this clearly non-notable article back to the third series of The Voice. You both keep saying that I should AfD the article, but I don't want it deleted. It should just be a redirect until proper sections about his development can be added. I also saw you conversation on Boleyn's talk page saying that I can AfD the article but it won't be redirected because of that not being what AfD is for. I would have expected better of someone who has made as many edits as you have over seven years. Just because eyou have made three times the amount of edits as I have, it doesn't give you any right to dictate to me or own the article. At the end of the day, an edit count is only a number. It doesn't measure achievement.  — ₳aron 18:04, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Extensive national coverage and some international coverage, and continuing. All The Voice contestants have had their records releasaed on itunes, Jackman made the Top 40. Based on these criteria, all American Idol top 12 or so are given articles despite repeated attempts to delete them, they are always found notable on this criteria. This article is in its early days, and a bit of patience is often required. Boleyn (talk) 18:22, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the top 5 who have actually got an extensive background and released music already are notable, but the ones who haven't who only have a songs performed table are not notable.  — ₳aron 18:26, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I couldn't really understand your comment, even whether you were talking about The Voice UK or responding to my comment about American Idol contestants. The top 13 on American Idol (season 13)#Finalists all have articles. I don't expect to convince you, as you have acted unilaterally and aggressively from the beginning, so won't continue to add my opinions here - I've stated my opinion, and we'll see what the consensus is. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 18:41, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't acted aggressively at all. If you think I'm being aggressive, you'll have a bit of a shock when someone really is aggressive toward you.  — ₳aron 20:45, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth

[edit]

Is there an unambiguous source for his date of birth? It's just been changed from 10 Jan 1995 to 1 Oct 1995 (different interpretations of 1/10/1995 or 10/1/1995, I suspect), but the first ref has him as aged 19 on 6 April 2014, which if my arithmetic is right shows him as born between 5 April 1994 and 6 April 1995 - ie the January date looks right. Same logic applies again. PamD 12:19, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
