SNL F-bomb

The subject of this article just dropped an "f-bomb" on live television. In anticipation of the "OMG!!11!!" edits (some of which might violate WP:BLP and be speculative in nature), I've semiprotected the article for now. --Kinu t/c 04:55, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

  • To clarify, it may not have been her, but another one of the new cast members, but it appears an edit pertaining to this gaffe has already been made once, so I would recommend leaving the article semi-protected for the time being. --Kinu t/c 05:03, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
  • Yes, it was Jenny Slate. She was looking mortified at the goodnights and being embraced by Seth Meyers (I did not catch whether he is still head writer this season.) I will take this opportunity to post here what I did on Talk:Saturday Night Live (season 35):

Does She Have Anything to Do With This Gabe Person?

I see references to this guy, but no evidence that she maintains an active partnership with this person, at least since she is on SNL and this guy is an unknown.(75.69.241.91 (talk) 05:17, 31 January 2010 (UTC))

Jenny Slate slips up and says "fuck" on her first show

Previous editor was a bit prissy (mentioned only "an expletive") and exhibits a poor grasp of the show's history. The "Charles Rocket incident" was thought to be deliberate on Rocket's part. Jenny Slate's accidental utterance of "fuckin'" in "Biker Chick Chat" shares the same bit of vocabulary but the similarities end there. It's more like the Norm Macdonald incident (1997-APR-12) and even more like the Paul Shaffer incident (15-MAR-1980), wherein the sketch performed contained numerous uses of the nonce word "fluck". (Coincidentally, Bono, part of the musical guest ensemble on the same episode, let slip a "fuckin'" at the 2003 Golden Globes ceremony, which was transmitted live in some markets. Neither he nor the broadcaster were penalized.)

U.S. West Coast viewers, please report what alteration (if any) was made to your version of the broadcast. SNL's SOP for these types of situations is to air the dress rehearsal version.

Branden, I watched it and they used the live broadcast.... She looked like she plotzed herself, it was hilarious. DFS (talk) 08:03, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

  • I will also note that we don't know if this a "notable" event yet or not. (The usual pressure groups might be too preoccupied with death panels and "keeping the government's hands off their Medicare" [sic] to notice.) I think I'll remove that characterization. Branden (talk) 07:15, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
I just wanted to point out that I am watching this sketch as I type this (God bless TiVo!) and while the article states the euphamism "fluckin" was used in place of the explitive, it was in fact "frickin" that was said. This is confirmed by both captions on the close captioning system (one built into the digital cable box, one built into Tivo) and me rewinding and replaying the sketch about 17 times :) 173.50.37.225 (talk) 07:54, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
You're absolutely correct; I had a brainfart and inadvertently referenced the aforementioned Paul Shaffer incident. I have now corrected my error. Thanks! Branden (talk) 08:34, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

SNL F-Bomb

It was Jenny Slate. During Biker Chick Chat. She was visibly aware she did it afterward and judging by their reaction, the audience was aware as well.Ezyrydr2000rs (talk) 05:21, 27 September 2009 (UTC)ezyrydr2000rs

The part where it says "she was not fired for this incident" Should that even be there at all or should it be elaborated on? Was there any talk of her getting fired or speculation and if so from who? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eeelick (talkcontribs) 15:43, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Ambiguity or contradiction in article

In the bit about the SNL incident, it's written that "Slate had little to no screentime following her verbal blunder" and also that the blunder happened "during her debut sketch". However it also says that she impersonated 5 celebrities on the show and had a recurring character. Can someone with more knowledge on the subject clarify this in the article please. 70.189.220.24 (talk) 23:27, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

New picture, please!

The lead picture of her blowing bubbles is terrible. It is out of focus and, if it wasn't in an article about Jenny, I doubt anyone would be able to name the person in it. Thanks!! DFS (talk) 00:39, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

No reference to her role as Sarah Guggenheim? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.48.247.250 (talk) 22:51, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
