Jefferson Davis descendant
[edit]Now that we've found her parents's names, can we find their dates of birth/death and their parents's names? Jefferson Davis was President in the 1860s; it shouldn't be terribly difficult to figure out what her family tree looks like, if she is indeed a Davis descendant.Zigzig20s (talk) 17:59, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
- I take this back. There is no reliable reference for her parents's names. It was added by an IP address, with no reference. The FindAGrave reference is not helpful at all. Not only is FindAGrave not considered a reliable source, but this weblink does not even mention her name. She may have to release a statement to clear this up. Otherwise, would the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library release President Davis's family tree?Zigzig20s (talk) 18:08, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
- It has been three years. A fast check shows no reliable citation (at wikipedia standards) for her mother's maiden name. Removed the findagrave citation and reverted the names of her parents to reflect the other citation. Kintpuash (talk) 20:39, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- The official SC Legislature member page, referenced in the stub, lists her parents names sans mother's maiden name. The Findagrave reference is for her mother's maiden name where her mother is listed in the obituary. Sources to the Davis genealogy are linked in the Crossroads, ASU faculty member link. Apparently both her parents are still alive, so much more info is doxing for non-public figures. Kintpuash (talk) 20:59, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- OK. So do we know if she allegedly descends from President Davis on her paternal or maternal side? That could be a start. The bravado followed by secrets makes no sense.Zigzig20s (talk) 21:16, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- In the Charleston Post and Courier article, it states she was told of her descent by her grandfather but with no further clarification. Her genealogy linked in the Crossroads page indicates her paternal grandfather was not alive when she was born. So presumably that leaves maternal grandfather? Brooks Simpson doesn't come right out and say she is wrong, leaving open the possibility of some unknown factor at play. To my knowledge, none of the media sources that repeated her initial claim have retracted or reconfirmed the connection. This is a problem for sure as far as citing sources, or at least better sources. Kintpuash (talk) 21:42, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- Someone posted a potential connection today. As a forum post we cannot use it in this form. If this is the connection it is very distant through two marriages and not by blood. [1] Edit: At least I don't think we can use it. Kintpuash (talk) 22:31, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

167.7.227.2 (talk) 13:06, 27 June 2016 (UTC) The Jenny Horne connection to HER Jefferson Davis was detailed on this page. When I get home to my notes, I shall re-add it. There is a news story repeating the lie that she is descended from President Davis. I would suggest that the admins restore, if possible, the prior information - as these edits have been done to serve a deception. Wikipedia is supposed to be a factual reference, not a tool for a mass media deception to serve political hate and agitation of a lie. 167.7.227.2 (talk) 13:06, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
