Skidmore's date of birth
[edit]Can anyone confirm Jeffrey Skidmore's date of birth? I derived the year 1951 from the fact that he was aged 18 when he started Ex Cathedra in 1969, but that could be inaccurate. Cheers, Jacklee 11:31, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Jeffrey Skidmore was born 27th February 1951. I spoke to him yesterday (23/01/09)to confirmm this.

- That's great, but is this information stated anywhere in a published source? I'm afraid Wikipedia policy does not permit the use of unreferenced information in articles about living persons. While I have no reason to think that you are not telling the truth, the fact remains that without a reference to a published source it is not possible for anyone to verify the accuracy of your statement. — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 07:56, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Photographs of Jeffrey Skidmore
[edit]Some copyright-free images of Jeffrey Skidmore for use in the article would be most welcome. I previously added some images obtained from the press kit on the Ex Cathedra website, but these were deemed by an administrator not to comply with Wikpedia's non-free content critera and were deleted. Cheers, Jacklee 12:52, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ex Cathedra has licensed photographs of Skidmore and Ex Cathedra to Wikipedia. Thanks! — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 00:56, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Bournville Boys Technical School
[edit]Hi, 91.110.212.170. You recently added information to the article "Jeffrey Skidmore" about Skidmore having attended the Bournville Boys Technical School. This information is currently unreferenced, and therefore may be removed by another editor. Are you able to provide a source for the information, such as a website or a publication (e.g., a school annual or magazine)? Thanks. — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 05:14, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- I personally am the 'source' as I went to BBTS with Jeffrey for seven years from 1962 to 1969, we also attended St. Heliers Road Sunday School in Northfield together before 1962; you can also quote "Griffin" magazine in 1967 (for his GCE 'O' level results) and 1969 (for his 'A' level results) if you want to! I am sure Jeffrey will also confirm that he is/was a school music teacher locally. (See the Bournville School article for link to alumni to which I added him.)
- Martin Packer 91.110.241.71 (talk) 08:14, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Martin. Therein lies the difficulty. I don't doubt that you are acting in good faith and telling the truth, but there's no way for me or anyone else to independently verify that information, which is why Wikipedia generally insists on citations to published sources of information. And using another Wikipedia article as a source is against policy: see "Wikipedia:Verifiability#Self-published sources". That having been said, a reference to your school magazine Griffin will do nicely. Do provide me with:
- The full title of the magazine (is it just Griffin or is there a subtitle?).
- The place of publication of the magazine.
- The publisher of the magazine (Bournville Boys Technical School?).
- The dates of the relevant issues of the magazine.
- The author and title of the article within the magazine in which the information appears, if any, and the number of the first page of the article.
- The page numbers where the information about Jeffrey's O- and A-level results appears.
I'll then insert the necessary citations. By the way, does Griffin magazine indicate what Jeffrey's date or year of birth is? I haven't been able to verify this information yet. Also, did St. Helier's Road Sunday School also publish a magazine or newsletter of some sort that might have referred to Jeffrey's attendance there?
Thanks for helping to improve Wikipedia. If you're intending to stick around, may I encourage you to register a user name as there are various benefits to doing so. — Cheers, JackLee –talk– 09:25, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
