Raith
[edit]Not all that important to the article, but,
- '"They'll be dancing in the streets of Raith tonight!"'
is actually correct. Raith Rovers are based in the Raith area of Kirkcaldy (just like Fulham are in the Fulham area of London). I think a more fitting example would be Ian Crocker's "They'll be dancing on the streets of Clyde tonight", following their 2-1 win over Celtic in the 05/06 Scottish Cup. - I did think about removing it before, but I have now. sʟυмɢυм • т • c 11:23, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- Someone added this in again so I've removed it, because the comment made by the BBC reporter was not incorrect - like I said above, Raith is an area of Kirkcaldy [1]. Marks87 20:21, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
But Stelling apparently said himself it was based on "street's of Raith", which is a known football quote. I mean Stelling knows his stuff. I doubt he pulled this "dancing on the" out of the bag like that. "dancing on the streets of Clyde"... is still based on "street's of Raith". That's why they are all saying it.
What you all are missing is you cannot compare Raith to Fulham or Clyde as they are nothing alike. "Raith" is nothing but private owned estate / woodland (the blank area to the left). There is no streets - no one lives there. You cannot get a bus there. It's just all grass and trees.
I don't know why people are trying to convert that "dancing on the street's of Raith" is somehow correct when it's referred to as otherwise. Besides, the club are actually in "Linktown" (or the Links). --Revolt 19:23, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- "I can’t remember exactly when I started saying it, but it was around the 2002/03 season,” says Jeff Stelling, referring to his dancing in the streets quip. “Nobody had ever given the Welsh football results before. Sky were encouraged to do so, as they gave the Scottish results. I was looking through the list at all the unpronounceable names and TNS stood out. I tried to think of something witty to say and used the Raith thing as inspiration." link --Revolt (talk) 11:57, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Doesn't Geoff now refer to them as Roath Ravers? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.108.4.75 (talk) 19:55, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Dancing In The Streets of TNS citation
[edit]A citation was requested regarding the performance of "Dancing In The Streets of TNS" during the TNS vs Liverpool Champions League match in 2005. I've added the only citation I can find - Paragraph 7 of this [2] article. LurkerDave 19:19, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- That's enough to prove it's not a hoax. Good work. sʟυмɢυм • т • c 21:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Not so good.....TNS playing Liverpool in the Champions League???? I think not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.208.211.22 (talk) 11:28, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
Date of Birth
[edit]No date of birth?! I should imagine this is connected to the ridiculous Wikipedia rule about no dates of birth for contemporary people but isn't this kind of rule just the kind of thing that to many people makes Wiki such a laughing stock. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.254.173.34 (talk) 08:07, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, I don't know where "23:30, 20 January 2009 92.237.92.217" got his date of birth from, but from this article it is completely false [[3]]
Confusing Des
[edit]I dont know if this is correct but it certainly reads as though someone has got confused between two people called Des. "but the role was given to Des Lynam instead.[2]. However, after Des O'Connor decided to leave Countdown in June 2008" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.234.243.2 (talk) 15:00, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
