What could have been for Ruland
[edit]Like Bill Walton, the Portland center hobbled by bad feet, Ruland demonstrated real talent at the NBA level before falling to injuries. The year in Spain aside, Ruland could have played 12 stellar NBA seasons, during which he probably would have often scored 20+ points per game, added his 4-6 assists and ranked annually among the NBA shooting and rebounding leaders. Washington could have had a real contender with him and sank without him. The guy showed real toughness and that is commendable. He might well have missed more games to see if the condition could have been better dealt with. He was a star robbed by those injuries and the NBA missed his presence in those years.
- The paragraphs above do not belong in an encyclopedia. Moaning about what could have been, and that he was "robbed", are the stuff of second rate sports fan magazines, not an encyclopedia. "The foot injuries ended a promising NBA career that could have included All-Pro selections or a championship. Robbed by injuries of a chance to be a superstar, Ruland was still a legitimate star of the 1980s NBA." is how it's worded in the actual article, and unless someone gives me a good reason not to, I plan to delete this twaddle. Stick to verifiable facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.154.226.112 (talk) 22:25, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
